Talked to Nene Elvesa in Vancouver - she said she is cold. I feel for her - I can't wait to see her. I do miss her a lot!
Got home last night and had a call from Fe Collantes Musgrave - another one of my friends from Catmon. Fe Orlanes Adlawan and Fe Collantes Musgrave opted to settle in warm LA. Cousin Levy Adelan, Auntie Mafe Ares, Elmer Roldan, Tia Oles, etc... are in the area. I always enjoy visiting with the Catmonanons there. Must return Fe's call tonight.
We lived in Southern California for a while - but the area was not good for my "hubak". I did not care for the heat or the Santa Anna winds or the traffic.
I love the cold most of the time. I just don't like the whole put on your "coat/hat/gloves/scarf/boots" business - the stuff I must wear to go out. The accessories make me feel very constricted to a point of almost suffocation. Also, forgetful me - always losing 1 of my gloves or my scarf or my hat. So who has time for make up???
I love going barefoot - Tia Geline is probably cringing to read this. So,I went outside the other day and hit the cold, cold cement with my "tootsies" - well, barefoot time in Michigan is over.
So I was at the office yesterday, going over the tasks to be done for the annual Christmas for Kids Project. One of the security folks, Harry, came by to warn me not to go out yet - it was sleeting.
The sleet turned to snow - the first storm to hit the Midwest (Yes, we are in the Midwest)and it is not even winter yet. We did have our share or warm days this year. About 2 - 3 inches on the ground when I drove home.
Driving is always fun, when the first time the snow hits. Most people have short memories and try to drive as fast as they can. So these drivers - clog up the roads blocking the traffic flow, slide into ditches (great business for the towing folks)or worse - like wind up in emergency rooms at the hospitals.
The trick is to be alert, slow down and take your time. Breathe slowly - in and out - easy on the gas, easy on the brakes!
Oh, for the warm sun of Catmon!
